Sores and bumps may be caused by a viral infection as well. The most common source is chicken pox or shingles, which occurs more often in adults. Shingles is the actually the chicken pox virus that resurfaces in people who have previously suffered from chicken pox. For these time will take away the bumps or sores. Scalp acne often occurs in adults. It may be caused by stress or hormones that accumulate in the hair follicles. There are shampoos that can eliminate this build up and prevent as well as get rid of scalp acne and sores. Pimples and sores can be very itchy,

Dandruff as most of us know is the process of continual shedding of skin cells on our scalps. Often the cause of dandruff is simply the result of toxins, pollutants and products that have built up on the scalp particularly products like silicone- a cheap commonly used artificial shine enhancer in conditioners sold in supermarkets. When the natural balance of our scalps is disturbed, this creates the perfect environment for the yeast fungus Melassezia Globbosa to move in and thrive.

Folliculitis occurs when the hair follicle is left open due to an overly dry scalp. Bacteria then will become trapped causing the hair follicle to become inflamed and bumps or sores to occur. Acne can also occur on the scalp with many of the same cause we see for facial acne, hormones and stress being two of the most common. Both folliculitis and scalp acne may vary greatly from only a few bumps and pimples to large outbreaks with boils and sores. Skin cancer can occur on the scalp, most often in an area that has little or no hair covering it.

Seborrheic dermatitis is another common scalp condition. It is characterized by greasy yellowish scales covering red inflamed skin on the scalp. It is known to be very itchy and uncomfortable. The inflammation only becomes worse with scratching. When infants suffer from seborrheic dermatitis it is known as cradle cap. Other than infants more people between the age of thirty and sixty tend to contract the condition. It may affect other areas such as the face and ears.

Rosemary is great as a sore, itchy scalp remedy. Rub rosemary oil or a mixture of olive oil and crushed rosemary leaves into your scalp and leave on for 15 minutes. If you've got a sore scalp, Chamomile is good to use as a compress for inflammation. Chamomile oil dabbed on scalp sores is very soothing. Apply to the scalp to soothe itching.Remember to patch test all oils before applying to your scalp, so as to avoid any allergic reactions.

Ingredients such as Zinc Complex and Zinc Plex are becoming more well known and are starting to be used in various natural shampoos and conditioners designed to realign the balance of the scalp when it comes to ph and other problems. There are people who have an oily scalp and are also dealing with hair loss which can even lead to eventual baldness. If you have a particularly oily scalp it is best to find a scalp treatment which will help you elevate this condition right now.
